Mesh Coatings were engaged by their clients at the design stage of this major refurbishment of an existing heritage Art Deco home. Working with the builder and the architect we provided systems to the entire envelope of the house to match the existing design and meet the current demands of house design and buildability.
The existing house was a stucco plaster home on a timber framed structure. The Stucco systems of old have disappeared and the only system that provides the same level of structure is the Sto Stucco system. This system comprises a stainless mesh, 20mm levelling plaster and a Sto Armat reinforced plaster system. As three walls of the house were existing, Mesh were able to provide a unique finish, to match the original, so the difference between new and existing was seamless.
Landscape plastering and a sand and cement plaster finish to exterior stairs and landing finished off the exterior plaster work.
We also provided a number of waterproofing systems to the home, consisting of a Equus de Boer Duotherm warm roof to the main roof and family room, 2-layer torch on membranes to the smaller roofs, Equus Vulkem liquid applied membrane under the deck pavers to the balconies and Ardex Shelterseal tanking system behind the garage concrete block retaining walls.
The owners of the home were thrilled with the result and are excited to have a family home with a modern day lay-out, whilst maintaining the exterior charm of days gone by.
